Date Published: 15 January 2010
Becoming Friends: Living and Learning with Quakers is an innovative learning project from Woodbrooke and Quaker Life which aims to nurture and support those who are new to Friends. It will help newcomers develop an understanding of Quakerism, while exploring their own journey, through engagement with flexible learning materials, on-line discussion groups and support from a network of ‘companions’ in local meetings.
As of 15th January, the Becoming Friends course is available both online and in paper format. The online course costs £5 and the paper pack costs £10. You can sign up for the online course by emailing becoming.friends@woodbrooke.org.uk or going to www.woodbrooke.org.uk/becomingfriends . You can order the paper pack from the Quaker Centre bookshop at www.quaker.org.uk/bookshop . tel: 020 7663 1030 email: bookshop@quaker.org.uk . A free demonstration of the online Becoming Friends course will also be available at http://moodle.woodbrooke.org.uk .
Meetings can get ready for supporting newcomers using the Becoming Friends materials by sending a couple of Friends on a Becoming Friends companion course:
8-10 February 2010 at Woodbrooke
14-16 May 2010 at Woodbrooke
1-3 October 2010 at Swarthmoor Hall
