Becoming Friends - Accessible Formats

Becoming Friends online course

Click here to download our 'Accessibility guidance for Woodbrooke Moodle courses'

We have designed the Becoming Friends course and our Moodle site to be as user friendly as possible. Moodle was chosen as the platform for the online course because of its recognized accessibility standards. For further information about accessing the online course, you may find it helpful to read our ‘Accessibility guidance for Woodbrooke Moodle courses’ – just click the link to download it.

Becoming Friends in electronic and large print formats

Becoming Friends was designed principally as an online course, but it was recognised that some Friends would not have access to the internet or prefer not to work on a computer. A paper pack was therefore produced to meet this need. The standard format paper pack is available to buy from the Quaker Centre – see www.quaker.org.uk/bookshop for contact details.

For Friends who cannot access print in standard formats and who are not able to work online, the following more accessible options are available:

Electronic files of the Becoming Friends course units in a range of formats (pdf, rtf or Word file)
These are available free of charge to people with a visual impairment or other access needs. You can then use your normal text reading software or change font size, colour etc to suit your own needs, and print out units as required.

Audio files of the Becoming Friends course units
To obtain mp3s of any Becoming Friends materials, you can use the free text to audio translation website www.robobraille.org. Simply email any of the electronic Becoming Friends course files as an attachment to britspeech@robobraille.org and they will send you an mp3 file of the unit within minutes.

An A3 large print version of the Becoming Friends paper pack
This can be produced on request as a photocopied enlargement if none of the other options is suitable. We can offer it at the same price as the standard print version.

To obtain Becoming Friends course materials in electronic or large print formats, or if you experience difficulties with accessing any aspect of the Becoming Friends course materials, please contact Project Developer Ginny Wall: email ginny.wall@woodbrooke.org.uk or ring 016977 41686 (Mon-Weds 9am to 5pm).
