About Woodbrooke
Be a voice for Woodbrooke in your local meeting!
Woodbrooke relies on ‘Woodbrooke Correspondents' in Quaker meetings to pass on information about all the opportunities we offer. You will share information at a local level and feed back to us with suggestions and comments. Where we have no Woodbrooke Correspondent we send information to clerks. Clerks will often be glad to pass this responsibility on to a dedicated person.
We will help you raise the profile of Woodbrooke and Quaker education in your meeting by sending you quarterly packs full of information about forthcoming events - courses, training, conferences, fellowships, open days and much more. By giving a few hours of your time each year you can help enrich your meeting.
Using the information packs and any further materials which you can order as needed you will be able to:
Publicise events at meeting through announcements, noticeboards, displays of leaflets or approaching individuals (for example, new Friends who may not be familiar with Woodbrooke). Some of our correspondents also share information with non-Quakers by ordering extra brochures for local libraries and community centres.

Encourage take-up of bursaries amongst your meeting. Woodbrooke offers bursaries, as do many local meetings.
Share ideas that arise in meetings so that our courses are relevant and useful to the Quaker community. If there is dissatisfaction with any aspect of our work we appreciate feedback and the ability to put any errors right. Correspondents are in a unique position to support us with this.
Support Woodbrooke with fundraising appeals to safeguard Quaker education for the future. We rely on donations as well as income generated from courses and conference facilities in order to continue our work. You are an advocate for us when regular appeals are being chosen or when surpluses are distributed by your meeting. You can tell Friends about the ‘Friends of Woodbrooke' scheme. We are not interested in ‘hard sell' fundraising - it is counter-productive and unethical - and we do not want you to feel pressured... but we still need support!
Spread the word about our conference facilities amongst any community or other groups that members of your meetings might be involved with. Woodbrooke offers meeting rooms and conference facilities that are central, accessible by public transport and road and well-equipped. We also offer an oasis of calm in an urban setting and a friendly, efficient welcome.
