About Woodbrooke
Our place on the Eco-map…
Woodbrooke, Europe’s only Quaker Study Centre, is set in 10 verdant acres of organically managed grounds and employs an equally green policy in its role as a conference and education facility. Quakers have always objected to exploitation of people and the environment and consequently visitors to Woodbrooke can be reassured that their meeting is being held at a place that makes every effort to function ethically and without harming the planet. We use fairtrade products wherever possible, as well as organic food suppliers and eco-friendly cleaning products, and we place an emphasis on recycling.

EarthOur Victorian walled kitchen garden produces organic fruit, vegetables and herbs which are served up in our dining room. We source our food suppliers from among local organic farms and free-range meat wholesalers. Our recycling policy is not just comprehensive, it is inventive, encompassing everything from toilet paper to light bulbs! |
AirAerosols, detergents and other cleaning products are harmful to the environment, but we source ours from Ecover which has the largest ecological purification laboratory in the world and uses only plant-based ingredients. |

FireWoodbrooke operates as energy efficiently as possible; when office staff leave for the evening, teams of dedicated volunteers inspect every room to ensure lights are turned off. |

WaterEven if you are only at Woodbrooke long enough for a hot drink, you can be sure that your tea or coffee will have been fairly traded. |
