About Woodbrooke

Garden and Grounds

One of our greatest assets is our gardens and grounds which extend to around 10 acres. The site has been managed organically for a considerable number of years and offers our visitors a range of facilities for enhancing their time at Woodbrooke including herbaceous borders, woodland areas, a lake, a walled garden, a grass labyrinth, a fire pit, bread oven, covered seating areas and the freedom to explore the grounds through a network of paths.

The woodland beyond the lake has been designated a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC). The lawns around the house contain specimen trees, some of which go back to the original planting of the garden.

The arboretum has a collection of exotic trees and the walled garden provides herbs, fruit, vegetables and flowers for cutting.

Paths closest to the house have been made suitable for wheelchair users, and all visitors are encouraged to make themselves at home in the grounds.

If you are not attending a course or conference or staying at Woodbrooke residentially we would ask that you enquire at Reception if you would like to walk in the grounds.
