Catalogue of the papers of J. Rendel Harris held at Woodbrooke
James Rendel Harris (1852-1941) was a notable Quaker biblical scholar and palaeographer, holding academic positions at the University of Cambridge, Johns Hopkins University and Haverford College before becoming Woodbrooke’s first Director of Studies in 1903.
Woodbrooke Library holds some of his personal papers, which were used by Alessandro Falcetta in his 'James Rendel Harris: A Life on the Quest', (Quaker Studies 8 (2004): 208-225). Researchers wishing to consult them should make a prior appointment with the Librarian.
Archive material relating to Rendel Harris is also held at Haverford and the University of Birmingham Library (Special Collections).
