The course begins on Friday with the evening meal and ends with lunch on Sunday.
The Hayes (Swanwick, Derbyshire)
Have you recently taken on a clerking role or are you about to begin one? Join this residential weekend for in-person, in-depth training and reflection on the core aspects of being a Quaker Clerk, whether in the Meeting House or online.
This weekend provides an opportunity for deeper discussions, practice, and reflection for those with clerking responsibilities. Spending time with experienced tutors and fellow Friends will help you build both understanding and confidence in your role.
We will explore the spiritual basis of clerking, its online dimension, and the details of what happens before, during, and after a Meeting for Worship for Business. The course is facilitated by tutors with extensive experience as clerks.
On the booking form, there is a chance for you to let us know about any accessibility or communication adjustments that will enable you to participate more fully in the course. Please be clear about your requirements when booking so that we can ensure you are allocated an appropriate room.
The Hayes has a variety of bedrooms specifically designed for delegates with disabilities. Their accessible bedrooms include adapted doors and space for wheelchair users, the provision of alarm pull-cords and specially designed showers and bathroom suites.
The main meeting rooms are accessible for delegates with disabilities and feature hearing aid loops.
There are Blue-Badge parking bays close to reception and the accommodation blocks.
