Quakers have held marriages since the time of Margaret Fell and George Fox. We have developed unique practices and our weddings are recognised as valid and lawful. Quaker Registering Officers have a vital role to play.

This course is essential preparation for Friends serving as Registering Officers. You will be led through the process of working with a couple wishing to marry, the theory and practice of Quaker weddings and the legal requirements of registering a marriage. You will discover how and when to involve others, and sources of ongoing support.

This course will involve live sessions with experienced Registering Officers, discussion forums and activities to undertake in your own time. By the end of our time together you will have a deeper understanding of the history of Quaker marriage and our current ministry and be confident in preparing for and leading a Quaker wedding.
