Can We Know The Truth

This session explores the tensions which emerge between the concept of ‘truth’ in Quaker worship and the meaning of ‘truth’ in historical & philosophical contexts. Participants will be encouraged to consider how knowledge is constructed when seeking truth.

Participants will be introduced to new ways of conceptualising ‘truth’ and to challenge the methods by which certain truths are created. Throughout the session, we will discuss the power and impact of ‘truth’ and its implications for understanding our past and present worlds.

This session involves a 60-minute presentation from Lily Chadwick and Laura Rediehs on the concept of truth in historical and philosophical contexts, followed by a 30-minute open discussion section in which participants are encouraged to apply these frameworks to the concept of truth in their own practice.
