Join us in a refreshing encounter with the enigmatic, ancient wisdom of The Thunder: Perfect Mind, to embrace opposites, welcome paradox and invite radical acceptance in troubled times.
In 1945 the text of The Thunder: Perfect Mind was unearthed in Egypt, alongside the Gospels of Thomas and Philip. Performance poem, social commentary and invocation, Thunder outstrips all categories to reveal a divine voice vitally present in all natures and conditions, unmuting the silenced and unshaming the exiled aspects of self and society:
“…
For I am knowledge and ignorance.
I am shame and boldness.
I am shameless; I am ashamed.
I am strength and I am fear.
I am war and peace.
Give heed to me.
…”
This short introductory session offers an opportunity to engage directly with Thunder, and give voice to our own paradoxes and contradictions with non-judgemental curiosity.
Using a mixture of short lecture, individual reflection to a prompt, and sharing in breakout rooms, we will celebrate the rich diversity of perspectives amongst all participants. How does this ancient text speak to each one of us today? You can expect this course to raise more questions than it answers.
On the booking form, there is a chance for you to let us know about any accessibility or communication adjustments that will enable you to participate more fully in the course. Automated Zoom closed captions are available for all live sessions but if you feel you require more accurate closed captioning please email us directly in addition to booking.
