Embodying Spiritual Wisdom Through Chant
Thursday 17 September 2026
19:00-20:30 (UK time)
Paulette Meier
Simple melodies and words sung over and over can be extraordinarily powerful, especially when each chant emerges from and returns to deep silence. Become part of a sacred river of sound and silence, trusting the current to take you where you need to go.
Chanting, or repetitive singing, allows us to store the chant’s message in our deep memories. In addition to the chanting, there will be time for sharing what rises in us as we sing the chants. While the full vibrational experience of chanting happens best in an in-person group setting, we’ll use pre-mixed recordings with multiple voices so that participants, with mics necessarily muted over Zoom, will hear their voice blending with a chorus of other voices. While viewing each other’s faces on the screen, we can feel united in that chorus!
This is a one of a series of three sessions running between May and September 2026. Each is bookable separately. Please see www.woodbrooke.org.uk/chant for the other sessions.
Comment from a previous participant:
“For me, this chanting workshop is a perfect worship experience. The alternation between chant which engages the body and mind and periods of silence is a powerful practice for me. Then the period of worship sharing allows the participants to harvest the rich spiritual yields.”
