Essentials of Quaker Eldership
Monday 11 August 2025
19:30-21:00 (UK time)

Woodbrooke and Quakers in Britain working in partnership.
Being a Quaker elder can be inspiring but also challenging. This is a space for those with eldership responsibilities to come together to consider and learn how to be an elder in your Quaker community.
These are structured sessions with preselected topics. The focus of this session is spoken ministry.
The session will be an opportunity to explore issues and questions arising from your role as an elder and gain insights from our experienced tutors to find solutions. Facilitation is provided by staff tutors from Quaker Life (BYM) or the Woodbrooke team, all of whom bring practical experience of eldership in a variety of Quaker contexts. While we will refer to live issues and case studies, the main source of learning will be the resource book for eldership, With a Tender Hand (2015), as well as the Book of Discipline.
Please note these are structured sessions with preselected topics, as outlined in the programme below.
These sessions are held on the second Monday of every other month. Come to all or any. It is not a drop-in but you can book right up to the start of the session at 7.30pm.
