Essentials of Quaker Eldership - all sessions

Woodbrooke and Quakers in Britain working in partnership.

Being a Quaker elder can be inspiring but also challenging. This is a monthly space for those with eldership responsibilities to come together to consider and learn how to serve as an effective elder in your Quaker community.

The focus of this session is ‘Serving as a Quaker Elder and Meeting for Worship for Business’.

Please note that the start time to the 90 minute session is now 19:00 not 19:30.

Each session will be an opportunity to explore issues and ask questions arising from carrying out your responsibilities as an elder for your Quaker community. You will gain insights from the experienced tutors as well as fellow participants to find solutions.

The session is held in collaboration with Quakers in Britain. One of the tutors from Quaker Life (Quakers in Britain) or Woodbrooke who are experienced in eldership in a number of Quaker settings will facilitate the monthly topic-based sessions.

While we will refer to live issues and case studies, we highly recommend that you come ready with the main resource book on eldership, With a Tender Hand (2015), in addition to the Book of Discipline (5th Edition).

The sessions are held on the second Monday of every month (including August and December). Come to all or any. It is not a drop-in but you can book right up to the start of the session at 19:00.
