How To Pray

Want to pray but don’t know where to start? Looking to refresh your prayer life? This course will introduce you to different ways of praying, using your body, words, images, and silence. By the end of the course you will have developed your own personalised prayer practice.

This course will largely draw on forms of prayer used in the Christian tradition, but people of all faiths are welcome. We will experiment with a range of techniques such as body awareness meditation, reflecting on inspirational texts, praying with icons, and writing our own prayers. We will reflect on prayer as amazement, as a place where our desires are transformed, and as resting in Divine Love. Having explored a wide variety of prayer, you will take away a much better sense of what kind of prayer works for you.

The course takes place over six weeks, with one 90-minute online session each week. In between these sessions you will be able to share your reflections and ask questions using online discussion forums. You will also be encouraged to put these ideas into practice in your daily life, building up your experience of prayer over the six weeks.

This course will involve:

Discussion, Online Learning Materials, Online discussion forum, Written and visual, Zoom Session
