The live Zoom sessions are at 19:00-20:30 (UK time) every Tuesday.
Quakers have made strategic choices throughout their history about how they interact with wider society. This course, charts the history of Quaker involvement with ‘the world’ and explores the current position. Are we still in the world but not of it?
The course is based on the book ‘The Cultivation of Conformity’ by Ben Pink Dandelion and explores both the theology and sociology of how Friends relate to non-Quakers and wider culture. It is not assumed you have read the book.
The course will help participants explore the way that Quakers have adapted to changing contexts as well as the choices we continue to need to make today in a largely secular environment. How do we want to present the Quaker message?
On the booking form, there is a chance for you to let us know about any accessibility or communication adjustments that will enable you to participate more fully in the course.
