This series shares what we learnt about interconnectedness, intergenerational community, and intersectional inclusion at the 2025 Quaker Earthcare Gathering and what we are still working out.
The residential event and the process around it challenged the organising group in many ways. In these sessions, we reflect on some of what we learnt and some of what we’re still grappling with in the hope it might help others working together in movements. We hope this reflection in community may also help us to become clearer, so our collective witness may be strengthened in the future.
We’ll be focusing on the themes of our difference and relatedness (including the tensions that arise from that), welcoming Quakers of all ages and making it possible for people from a range of backgrounds to attend. You are very welcome whether you have been part of the gathering or are interested in these topics in your own witness or meeting.
This first session will focus on the question: How do we hold tensions between individual leadings and interests and corporate discernment when it comes to acts of witness?
We’ll be using a Quaker Quest inspired format to explore this question. In this process, we’ll hear three speakers answer this question from different perspectives. Then there will be time for small group discussion in response to the ministry shared. Then speakers will respond to each other. Finally, there will be some more time for small group responses and some shared worship.
