Making Peace With Conflict

Is there conflict within your Quaker meeting? Would you love to initiate dialogue about controversial topics but don’t know where to start? This course can help you to develop the skills and confidence to embrace the opportunity of conflict.

As Quakers we are grappling with subjects which many find deep and painful. This course will not seek to address any particular issues themselves but will focus on developing the tools you need to initiate and hold dialogues on difficult subjects while staying in connection. Founded in Nonviolent Communication, this course will give you the tools you need to initiate and hold dialogues on difficult subjects while staying in connection.

Over six weeks we will use live examples and role plays to develop the skills to create safe spaces where loving dialogues can take place, and to find a common vocabulary and intention with those with whom you may disagree. Run by experienced facilitators and Friends, the course will be embedded in both the consciousness of Nonviolent Communication and Quaker spirituality.

Everyone is welcome to attend this course. We have integrated more time into this learning process to ensure there is adequate space to support everyone, but particularly those whose lived experiences of marginalisation may mean these topics are harder for them to engage with.

This course will involve:

Discussion, Online Learning Materials, Online discussion forum, Written and visual, Zoom Session
