The live Zoom sessions are at 18:30-20:00 (UK time) every Monday.
To continue politics as we are – with closed minds and hearts – leads to catastrophe. Once we begin to listen, a shift takes place. This course is about reimagining politics through the lenses of love, dialogue and co-operation.
We will learn on this course how to listen better and how to aim for more fruitful outcomes when encountering ideas and people we find difficult. We’ll hear insights from experienced Friends, and study ways of engaging with people who think differently to us. We’ll learn less confrontational ways of approaching ‘politics’, including tools and processes that we can apply in our own lives.
The course will include lots of listening in pairs and small groups and a series of interviews with Quakers and others about new political ideas and practices. We will build a community where it’s safe to say what we feel and which encourages us to try out new ways of thinking and acting. We’ll hope to come away inspired to do things differently.
On the booking form, there is a chance for you to let us know about any accessibility or communication adjustments that will enable you to participate more fully in the course. Automated Zoom closed captions are available for all live sessions but if you feel you require more accurate closed captioning please email us directly in addition to booking.
