Monday 22 September - Thursday 25 September 2025
The gathering will begin with lunch on Monday and end with lunch on Thursday.
Gladstone’s Library, Hawarden, North Wales
This gathering offers a supportive community to progress our own projects and a chance to learn about different kinds of research and how they are conducted. All researchers in Quaker Studies (students, academics, and independent scholars) are invited.
During this week, researchers in all areas of Quaker Studies are invited to bring their work and questions to share with others. In discussion sessions, we will explore how different research projects work, considering disciplinary differences (such as history, sociology, and theology) and possible approaches (e.g., quantitative, qualitative, or philosophical). These sessions will include practical tips on managing research materials and note-taking, as well as more abstract discussions of research methods.
There will also be extended periods of quiet time to focus on your own work, either alone or in shared spaces, with an option to have a one-to-one meeting with a member of academic staff to discuss your work in detail.
The gathering will take place at Gladstone’s Library, a residential library in Hawarden, North Wales. While participants are residents, they will have access to the library’s reading rooms from 9am until 10pm These reading rooms contain 26 desks, comfortable armchairs, and over 150,000 printed items on the shelves—an excellent place to study during the gathering.
On the booking form, there is a chance for you to let us know about any accessibility or communication adjustments that will enable you to participate more fully in the course. Please be clear about your requirements when booking so that we can ensure you are allocated an appropriate room.
