Quakers in Wartime - The Friends Ambulance Unit

In this session we will explore the Friends’ Ambulance Unit (FAU) and its humanitarian work in post-war China. The FAU was a volunteer ambulance service organised by Quakers that provided an alternative mode of wartime service focused on relieving suffering and promoting peace.

In this 90-minute session, documentarian and lecturer Janet Harris will present her 30-minute film on one iteration of the FAU’s service in post-war China, followed by a period of discussion and question answering with Janet. No prior knowledge of the FAU will be necessary to participant in this session.
