Serving on a Quaker Committee
Thursday 21 May 2026
12:30-14:30 (UK time)
Elize Sakamoto
Are you about to start or have you recently started serving on a Quaker committee, whether on the children’s committee at your Local Meeting or related to governance of Quakers in Britain?
Join us to explore what this service and role mean for your Quaker faith and how you can prepare practically.
The session will remind us of the spiritual foundation of all Quaker committee work and the role of Quaker business method. An overview of Quakers as an organisation will also be provided. We will outline what Friends are generally expected to do before, during, after, and between committee meetings, and there will be plenty of time for Q&A with the facilitators, who have experience across a range of Quaker committee work in Britain.
It will serve both as an induction for those newly nominated or appointed to a committee and as a refresher for Friends who are more seasoned but returning to committee service.
This course will involve:
Discussion, Written and visual, Zoom Session
