Sunday Sessions: Making Meeting for Worship Accessible
Sunday 13 December 2026
12:15-13:15 (UK time)
Wendy Hampton
In a different kind of session for Woodbrooke, we are inviting whole meetings to gather together after Meeting for Worship for a discussion.
In this session Friends are invited to join us in an exploration of accessibility through shared learning and reflection.
Our experience and feedback have shown us that participants would find it helpful to have learning opportunities where Friends from their meetings are also present and able to join in the discussion. We are offering these sessions in response to this feedback, particularly for those who would value support with discussion and learning sessions.
How can we improve accessibility for a whole range of needs? We will spend time in groups considering together what we already do well and where we can adapt to be more welcoming and accessible.
Meetings are encouraged to share lunch together as part of the day either before or after the Sunday session. Each meeting will need a named Friend or small organising group to coordinate the physical space and Zoom connection locally. Seeing other meetings gathered on screen offers a rare opportunity to learn alongside the wider Quaker community while remaining rooted in local community, though being a short session there will be very limited time in which to hear from each other.
This course will involve:
