Texts of Terror

This session offers an accessible introduction to Queer theology and LGBTQ+ affirmative approaches to the interpretation of Biblical texts. Led by Fr. Kieron Rowley we will explore the challenges and riches contained in the Bible from a Queer perspective.

The session uncovers the complexities inherent in traditional ‘texts of terror’ like Leviticus 18:22 and Romans 1, alongside stories of unexpected affirmation like the partnerships of David and Jonathan or Ruth and Naomi, In the course of the session Friends will have the opportunity to reflect together about their own attitudes to some key Biblical stories.

This session will appeal to Friends who want to go deeper in their spiritual engagement with Scripture, or for those who support LGBTQ people of faith in their personal or professional lives.
