24 January - 6 March 2024
The live Zoom sessions are at 19:00-20:00 (UK time) fortnightly on Wednesdays 24 January, 7 February, 21 February and 6 March.
In this course we will explore Rosemary Moore’s book The Light in Their Consciences, regarded as the most comprehensive, and readable history of Quaker beginnings. This will help us gain a deeper understanding of George Fox and the early Quaker movement.
This is the first in a planned series of courses looking at the various volumes in the ’New Quaker History Series’, published by Pennsylvania State University Press. Over a six-week period, we will look in some detail at the contents of this important book using online presentations and texts.
The course also includes four live sessions, using Zoom, were the book’s author, Rosemary Moore will offer her own reflections and answer your questions. It would be helpful if participants could obtain a copy of the book, but this is not essential.
There will be some material to look at before the first session. We will email you around one week prior to the course with information about accessing the course, including this material, on our online learning platform (Moodle).
On the booking form, there is a chance for you to let us know about any accessibility or communication adjustments that will enable you to participate more fully in the course. Automated Zoom closed captions are available for all live sessions but if you feel you require more accurate closed captioning please email us directly in addition to booking.
