The Spirituality of Palliative Care
Wednesday 17 February 2027
19:00-21:00 (UK time)
Berenike Obermayer
For some thoughts about end of life can be difficult, causing fear or anxiety. We may have to make difficult decisions regarding medical treatment for ourselves or our loved ones. In this supportive session, we will explore the concepts of palliative and hospice care, and their connections to Quaker faith and practice.
After an introduction with information about key concepts, there will be time to reflect, discuss and ask questions about the possibility of a “good death” and your own thoughts and wishes regarding dying and death. There will be time to ask questions about palliative and hospice care in general, and space to share your own spiritual experiences.
This session is a good fit for anyone ready to start thinking about life in the face of death, including persons who might have a terminal illness or their friends or relatives, as well as anyone in caring or medical professions interested in the connection between spiritual practice and palliative care.
