The Spirituality of Walking and Wheeling

Are you a regular wanderer? Have you found yourself propelled to move as response to life’s twists and turns? Do you walk or wheel as a spiritual practice, or is it your ministry? This session will help you consider what this movement means for you.

Walking and wheeling is an often-overlooked gem of our spiritual lives. Through this movement we encounter ourselves, the Divine and others. We will consider how walking and wheeling directs our spiritual journey, take a brief look at how walking formed part of the ministry of early Quakers, and reflect on how it continues to influence our corporate and individual witness today.

This session is for anybody who moves, whether that is round the block in a wheelchair, on a bicycle or striding through the countryside; the questions we will consider are applicable for all. You will come away enthused, with new ideas and a deeper recognition of the importance of walking and wheeling for your spirituality.

This is a single session where we will grow together through led discussion and sharing, with a brief presentation on ministry. If you are interested in more, Anna is running a weekend course in spring 2027 at Glenthorne.

This course will involve:

Discussion, Zoom Session
