How do we experience the Spirit – God, the divine – in later life? Through gentle sharing we’ll look at how our experience of ageing, loss and the prospect of death may free us to live a life that is more Spirit-led, loving, joyful and productive.
This course will provide opportunity to explore matters that may be close to our heart but can often be hard to speak about. We will consider the gifts of ageing as well as the sorrows, including the loss of loved ones, the vulnerability of ageing and the need to let go of previous capabilities and identity. We’ll share experience of simplicity, surrender and solitude.
While the main focus of this course is not on practicalities, we’ll consider how we can prepare for our dying, including, for example, the outline for a ‘last letter’. We’ll share resources and further reading and develop ideas that Friends can take back to their local meetings. Above all, we shall explore how we can be open to continuing revelation and transformation in our lives, considering how we are led.
Please note that while there will be elder support for the course, it is not intended to meet the needs of those recently bereaved, nor would we recommend it for them.
Foxhill House is nestled within serene woodlands and picturesque lawns in Frodsham, 10 miles from the centre of Chester.
This course will involve:
Discussion, Recorded material, Speaker, Workshop, Written and visual
