Adventurous disability equality
£232.00 – £333.00
Beccy Talmy and Esther Leighton - Nearly a decade ago, Beccy's own ideas about disability were completely turned on their head when Esther told her about the history and ideas of the Disabled People's Movement. They went onto qualify as Disability Equality Trainers together. She and Esther have delivered Disability Equality Training to community groups, social work students, schools and third sector organisations. She is very excited about the opportunity to draw out the links between disability rights and Quakerism.
For Esther, the history of the disability rights movement and basic disability theory is essential both to her personal well-being as a disabled woman, and also to focusing her efforts to improve the world so that all disabled people can experience equality. Esther gets very excited about creative accessibility; developing communities and meetings which bring people together rather than inadvertently excluding. She's looking forward to exploring the links between Quakerism and disability equality with others. .
