Joanna Grace is the founder of the Sensory Projects. The projects run on the principle that with the right knowledge and a little creativity inexpensive items can become effective tools for inclusion.
Joanna has a background in education and has worked with people with
complex disabilities enabling them to communicate through sensory
exchanges. She is the author of two books on sensory engagement work:
Sensory Stories for children and teens with special educational needs,
and Sensory being for Sensory Beings.
*Rebecca Leighton* has worked as Speech and Language Therapist for 15 years, working to improve communication with people who have mental health conditions and/ or learning disabilities. She has a particular interest in supporting people who rely on non-verbal communication, such as those with profound and multiple disabilities or dementia. Rebecca has completed a Masters focussing on Sensory Stories and co-authored an article on Sensory Storytelling in dementia care.
