Joanna Grace is the founder of the Sensory Projects. The projects run on the principle that with the right knowledge and a little creativity inexpensive items can become effective tools for inclusion. Joanna has a background in education and has worked with people with complex disabilities enabling them to communicate through sensory exchanges. She is the author of two books on sensory engagement work: Sensory Stories for children and teens with special educational needs, and Sensory being for Sensory Beings.
Rebecca Leighton has worked as Speech and Language Therapist for 15 years, working to improve communication with people who have mental health conditions and/ or learning disabilities. She has a particular interest in supporting people who rely on non-verbal communication, such as those with profound and multiple disabilities or dementia. Rebecca has completed a Masters focussing on Sensory Stories and co-authored an article on Sensory Storytelling in dementia care.
