£170.00 – £245.00
Julian of Norwich: ‘There was a treasure in the earth which the Lord loved.’ Julian’s writings are complex and deep but their meanings are beautiful in their simplicity. We are the treasure. The course will aim to engage with Julian, the woman, her life and spirituality, offering the opportunity to explore her words through reflection, music and laughter. Discover how the message of her Revelations for the world is as relevant today as it was in the 14th Century. There will be times to be quiet, times to discuss and times to Simply Be.
Dr Pauline Lovelock is a practitioner working in the field of children’s spirituality with a background of Education and Social Work. Formerly Head of RE for 25 years, she currently works with children at the Walsingham Shrine and was formerly Learning Project Officer at the Julian Shrine in Norfolk where she also offered Quiet days and Retreats for adults. She holds a Doctorate exploring children’s Divine Encounter. Her interest lies in children’s response to sacred spaces in particular during times of silence. She carefully noted what children said about God, Angelic encounters, death and bereavement and found they spoke of experiences which they viewed as good but sometimes dark. They simply asked to’ be believed’ as they demonstrated spirituality in advance of their years. Pauline has been invited to speak at International Conferences on the spirituality of children particularly in relation to the use of silence. A Farmington Fellow of Harris Manchester College, Oxford. Pauline also works with adults as a retreat leader and is a Trainee Lay Reader in the Church of England, licensed to work in Suffolk. Pauline has a Bishop’s licence to preach, working in Suffolk.
