Quaker Week 2016: 1 - 9 October

Every Autumn, Britain Yearly Meeting holds Quaker Week, a national event aimed at helping others to discover more about Quakers and the Quaker way. At Woodbrooke we have a different activity or event planned for each day. Keep an eye on this page or our Facebook page for details.

Event: World Quaker Day - Online Meeting for worship

Event: Free course 'Radical Spirituality' starts

Monday 3 October is the official start of our free online course run in partnership with Lancaster University and FutureLearn. This 3-week course will look at the origins of Quakerism, how it all started, and who were the early movers and shakers of the movement. **Please note this course takes place on the FutureLearn website**

Event: 'Q'uaker Cookies

Location: Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre

You will be able to help yourself to some 'Q' shaped chocolate chip cookies during the morning and afternoon tea breaks at Woodbrooke. For those who aren't at Woodbrooke, we encourage you to make your own cookies using our favourite recipe and share the results with us on social media using #QuakerCookies.

Quakers are a significant part of the local history in South Birmingham, Central England Quakers will be holding a number of drop-in events at a number of  meeting houses around the area for a chance to visit some of the meeting houses and to talk with Quakers today about their history, beliefs, and activities. Please see the timetable below.

Informal group. 10.00 am - 4.00 pm bring-and-share lunch 1.00pm.

If you are trying a new craft or need help we are willing to share from our experience. Come for an hour, morning, afternoon or all day.

Bournville Quaker Meeting House

Lunchtime Concert

Bournville Quaker Meeting House is the only one in the country with an organ. Internationally renowned organist, Naoko Mitsumori from Osaka, Japan plays Bach.  Admission is free with retiring collection to cover performer’s expenses. 1.00pm – 1.40pm Soup and a roll at 12.00 noon.
