Carolyn Baynes

Carolyn Baynes serves as an Elder at Farnham Quaker Meeting, Surrey and Hampshire Border Area Meeting. She is a music teacher and teaches a monthly ‘Centring Down with Compassion’ meeting online which is also a podcast. Her practice and spiritual life deepened when she discovered teachings about becoming more mindful of the breath and the body and was struck by how some Buddhist practices like Metta (loving Kindness) seem to be so similar to Quaker practices like Holding in the Light. Becoming bi-lingual to other ideas has enriched her experience of daily meeting for worship for prayer and has been foundational to her healing and recovery from divorce, childhood trauma and the challenges of life.
