Rachel completed a cross-disciplinary PhD in 2023, using conceptual metaphor theory and corpus linguistics techniques to examine the writings of Quakers taken as a religious emotional regime. She is currently working on metaphors of sin and desire in Good Omens fan fiction.

She leads the Collection Development & Management team at the University of Manchester Library, one of five National Research Libraries and the third largest academic library in the UK; her side hustle is running a Meeting House library.
