Being and Doing decolonising Quaker identity

This session takes a postcolonial approach to reflecting on Quaker identity through the lens of Willie James Jennings’ pioneering work on ‘Whiteness’.

While Quakerism has an enviable reputation for social and political radicalism, this radical witness, has nonetheless, been impeded by the often-invisible perspectives of Whiteness. This session will seek to deconstruct the hidden facet of Whiteness, so enabling British Quakerism to be a more inclusive and dynamic tradition in British life.
