John: The Quaker Gospel?

1 November 2021 - 10 December 2021

Some have called John’s Gospel ‘The Quaker Gospel’. Others have called it ‘exclusive’, ‘mystical’, ‘Gnostic’, and many other words. In this course we will try to bring the fourth gospel to life for Quakers again, appreciating its poetic beauty and overarching inclusive message, whilst not shying away from the terrible ways in which it has been used, especially against Jews. We will consider how John was received and read by Quakers, and how it has influenced the Quaker movement and its values.

Live sessions are every Tuesday at 19:00-20:30 (UK time).
