Responding to Ecological Crisis: Quaker spiritual insights – Facilitators’ course

The course will run over a six week period and include four evening sessions plus one whole day.

Quaker insights

At the moment dates for this course are not confirmed but if you add yourself to the waiting list below, we arrange the course once there is enough interest.

This online course will enable you to work through a set of study materials using Quaker spiritual insights to help Friends reflect on, and discern their responses to the developing ecological crisis.

To support meetings to use the materials, we are offering this course specifically for people who would like to facilitate the use of the materials in their Area Meeting or Local Meeting. Participants will learn the basics of online and in person facilitation and get a chance to practise in small groups. There will also be the opportunity for one-to-one support during the course.

Priority will be given to those put forward by their Area Meetings. Please expand and read the important further details below.

We ask Area Meetings to put forward people who:

  • Are willing to run at least one study group for the Area Meeting – this could be for the whole Area Meeting or for one or more Local Meetings and could be online or in person. (Study groups can be of varying length from a single day to a series of up to 10 sessions.)
  • Can attend all of the live sessions.
  • Have not received facilitation training nor had significant experience in facilitation previously.
  • Have an interest in or are active in responding to the climate crisis.

We particularly welcome participants who are younger members. Applicants between 16 and 18 can be considered but please contact if you would like to put forward someone in this age group.

The Area Meeting must commit to:

  • supporting the applicant both to set up and run the study group.
  • distributing evaluation forms (to be provided by Woodbrooke) to all participants and sending them to Woodbrooke. Area Meetings may also be asked to provide further information for monitoring & evaluation purposes.
