Spirituality and Creative Practice: making images from music
14:00 - 16:00
This series of sessions enables people to learn from practising artists about their different creative practices and how they connect to and enrich their spiritual practice. The sessions are interactive, giving participant to try out or explore the creative practice themselves.
Do you like listening to music? Are you interested in exploring the connection between music and visual art?
For the past year Robin Bowles has been providing music on a wide variety of instruments in our monthly Meeting for Worship for Dance. Lesley Regan has been responding by creating beautiful vibrant images that express the flow and the different moods of the music and the dance.
In the session Lesley Regan will talk about how she creates images of the music she hears and how this is part of her experience of worship. Robin will talk about how he creates music for Meeting for Worship. You will then have the opportunity to create your own images while listening to Robin’s music using your own choice of art materials or whatever you have to hand. Finally, we will share our experience of doing this in small groups.
This session is for anyone of any age and no previous experience of music or art is necessary. Please bring your own art materials and make sure you have a space to create your own images. It is up to you whether you choose to share the artwork you make with others.
All times given are UK time.
