Quakerism is alive and kicking at Woodbrooke

12 July 2017

We know that some Friends have been concerned about the implications of our recent decision to use our simple name of Woodbrooke alongside our new logo rather than our formal title of Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre. We would like to reassure Friends that Quakerism is still at the very core of Woodbrooke. Our mission has not altered from the original intentions for Woodbrooke to ‘foster a vital Friends’ ministry’. Encouraging and enabling ministry remains at the centre of our experiential, nurturing, and potentially transformative Quaker approach to learning today, whether that ministry is faith, witness, love, or service.

Our reasons for rebranding and using our simple and highly regarded name of Woodbrooke is so that we can be more welcoming; nothing more and nothing less. This is not an attempt to water down our Quaker learning or to lose the presence of Quaker worship and upholding at Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre.

We have written a response to worries and questions raised by the article in The Friend on 9th June and subsequent letters, and it should be published in The Friend soon.

If you have any questions about Woodbrooke’s work and mission then please do not hesitate to contact us directly and we would be happy to talk with you.
