I hope to re-examine the question of what a Quaker perspective on Mental Health might mean in the 21st Century by looking at delivery of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy for Borderline Personality Disorder at The Retreat.

About Leo Barnard
I propose to use qualitative research methods to explore with psychiatrists, psychotherapists and service-users their perspectives on this diagnosis and their expectations and experiences of the programme. I anticipate drawing heavily upon Critical Theory, since there is a current debate involving Critical Psychiatry, Critical Psychology and Critical Psychotherapy. One area which I believe has been under-represented in the research generally is the service-users’ input and I hope to redress this somewhat.
