How do we find the right balance between contemplation and action? How can we respond to George Fox’s challenge to act faithfully both inwardly and outwardly? In this online day workshop, we will explore our calling to both stillness and activity.

A life devoted to an inward spiritual journey can appear disconnected and even self-absorbed; meanwhile, those who fill their lives with action can also feel guilty: that they are too busy, not spending enough time in silence and solitude. This is an age-old dilemma, brought vividly to life in Jesus’ encounter with the sisters Mary and Martha, as described in Luke’s Gospel (10:38-42).

We will work in pairs, groups, and in plenary, with time for discussion and worship-sharing. There will also be short periods for personal reflection away from your screen.

The programme will include a morning and afternoon break, and a one-hour lunch break.
