Women holding placards and wearing capes saying we need democracy

What is happening in Myanmar now? What can we learn from hearing from women peacebuilders at the front-line of a complex and violent internal conflict? Join Monica as she shares her experience of working for peace and justice in Myanmar.

In the second of two interactive online sessions, we hear from Monica (not her real name for security reasons), an incredible woman working for peace and justice inside Myanmar. Monica is a powerful peace-practitioner, using creative, art and drama-based tools to support and train people in Myanmar in non-violent communication, challenging oppressive social dynamics and resourcing people to take care of their mental and emotional health at this difficult time.

Monica will share with us her experience of the current situation in Myanmar, which now is rarely in our news headlines but where a terrible conflict still rages. She will share about her peace-building, her approach and the ways she finds strength to continue.

What inspiration and learning we can take from her example to wage peace with grace, creativity and courage, within our own communities and in other parts of the world where our presence is welcomed?

How does she keep working for peace, even when the odds seem stacked so hard against it? What can people outside Myanmar do to support local-led efforts to build peace and justice?

As the time-zone in Myanmar is many hours ahead of the UK, we will hear from Monica through a recording of an interview with her. Noon (the Myanmar speaker in the first session in this series) and Tanya Hubbard- long term co-facilitator with Monica in Myanmar- will both be present in the live session to engage in dialogue with participants about the situation and ways to nourish peace.

Come to this session to listen to Monica share and engage with each other.
