Judy Roles is a Member of Gloucestershire Area Meeting and first attended Quaker Meetings when she worked in London in the 1980s as a producer for BBC Radio 3. The seeds of prison work were sown when she visited Wormwood Scrubs with a tape recorder but it was many years later, after children and a spell as a primary teacher, that she found herself back in prison to support the Quaker chaplain at Gloucester.
Judy now works as a part-time chaplain at HMP Long Lartin where she began as a volunteer eight years ago. During that time she has been a member of the QPCC and recently served as clerk. She has also enjoyed working as a volunteer Restorative Justice facilitator as part of the well-supported hub in Gloucestershire. When training as a Spiritual Director she found her way to the Enneagram and to a project developing this programme in prison work.
